7 Tips For Becoming a Master Blogger |
1. Constant Pursuit For Fresh Content
You must try to post fresh content as frequently as possible If your goal is to achieve and maintain high traffic you must plan to post a minimum of three times a week, but ideally every day. This is important in more ways than one.
* First, you’ve got to get readers excited to stop by for frequent visits. There’s nothing like hitting up your favorite blog and finding something new. You know the feeling. If people start getting that constant gratification every time they visit, you can count on the fact that they will keep coming back.
* Second is search engine ranking. This alone is HUGE! I can not possibly address it in its entirety here. There are too many search engines and too many processes to even skim the surface. Just know that the more you post, the more your name will come up in search engines. It’s a fact.
2. Patience is Divine (but Never Pay Full Price for Late Pizza)
I've heard Rome wasn't built in a day and it seems logical enough to me. So why have you turned to the dark side because your blog doesn't get 1000 unique visitors a day? Remember to be patient and work a little each day to build. Over time you will begin to see the readers and traffic you dreamed of. Don't give up and you will reap the rewards.
3. Keep it Simple
Personally I consider this one a "DUH" and it's something that should be applied to almost every area of life. You’ve got to keep it simple first off for your sanity. Blogging can very easily consume all of your time and energy. Have you ever visited a blog, seen a big block of text, and high tailed it outta there? Sure you have. Me too. Keep text brief. Try to keep your content balanced between words and images.
4. Give and Ye Shall Receiveith
Link. Link. Link. Link to other relevant blogs and information pages. This will just flat-out help your visitors. I understand that there are probably more than a few of you saying “NO WAY! They just got here, I’m not sending them away!” Sorry, but you’re wrong. Providing additional links to important and relevant information is just good ebusiness. Linking to other websites will make you seem thoughful and kind. It just makes me warm all over. Plus as you do or will be doing, those website you link to are definitely checking who is referencing their material, inspiring them to check your stuff out and possible return the favor.
5. You Gotta Respect
If your readers email you, respond as quickly as possible. Try your best to treat your readers with respect. Even a simple “I am sorry that I have not been able to answer your question, but I have been completely overwhelmed. Try this link I found the other day and I think it may be helpful to your question.” Don’t just blow them off. Anything is better than nothing. Respect yourself by being true to yourself and by making your blog original. Try to find your niche and run with it. Also remember to respect other bloggers. This is a community and news can travel fast. There is a limitless number of readers out there so remember that when considering to contact readers of another blog trying to get them to yours.
6. Be Real
Don't pretend to be someone you are not and don't "name drop" or tout yourself as the next greatest thing since sliced bread. You will only turn off your readers. Try to be as approachable and welcoming as possible to your readers and it will reward you over and over again. This will begin to open doors of opportunity you never knew existed.
7. Who, What, Where?
Make sure you remember to track your stats with analytic software. Most web hosts offer built-in packages for tracking visitors. You can also use Google Analytics. There are other great systems out there. Your tracking software can tell you how many unique people visited your blog within a given time period, how many actual visits within a given time period, the general geographic location of my viewers, their loyalty, how long they stayed on my site, how deep they went down the rabbit hole and more. It’s a MUST. Plain and Simple. Besides, it is really fun and rewarding to watch it build over time.
